IRB Infrastructure Developers' Q2FY27 net profit rose 84.85% to ₹260.15 crore on 15% toll revenue growth and higher InvIT distributions.

The number to hold onto is December 2033.
Larsen & Toubro's Transportation Infrastructure vertical has taken Contract Packages CP09 and CP10 for Dhaka Metro Line 1 from Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, covering track, traction, signalling, telecoms and platform screen doors. CP09 runs alongside Sumitomo Corporation.
DMTCL needed the award to land, and it has. The schedule is another matter.
Dhaka Metro Line 1 was originally sequenced to open in the mid-2020s; the completion date now carried in the contracts sits roughly seven years beyond that.
Systems are the last scope built and the first blamed.
When civil packages slip, the systems contractor absorbs standing time, re-mobilisation, interface rework and disputed site access.
Line 1's physical profile sets the difficulty:
- 31 km across two routes and 19 stations
- 16.4 km of the Airport Line underground, much of it beneath Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport
- Soft delta ground and dense utility corridors
- A tunnelled airport approach
That is L&T's exposure.
L&T delivered integrated railway systems on Dhaka Metro Line 6, which is carrying passengers today — and DMTCL has now handed the same systems layer to the same integrator.
On ODA-funded metro work, an incumbent integrator writes the interface standards that civil and rolling stock contractors must then meet.
Repeat-buyer status is worth more here than the contract figure.
Sumitomo is in CP09 for reasons beyond equity.
JICA is financing Line 1 through a yen loan, and the trading house carries the procurement-facing compliance role yen-funded packages expect.
Execution sits with L&T; the structure sits with Sumitomo.
Read the value range the way the market reports it. L&T discloses orders in bands, and the ₹5,000–10,000 crore span is one classification, not a signed number.
DMTCL's pipeline is shifting from civil to systems, and that layer is consolidating around an Indian-Japanese pairing in a market where Chinese vendors competed hard on price.
Contractors bidding JICA-funded urban rail across South Asia should note where the moat actually sits.
Civil packages get re-tendered. Interface standards do not.
